Coming from Abroad (Airplane + Rail + Taxi)
If you are coming from abroad you WILL have to be in Melton Mowbray or Grantham by Friday 29th evening.
You can fly into the UK from abroad and land to any of the following airports:
- Stansted Airport
- Heathrow Airport
- Gatwick Airport
- London City Airport
- East Midlands Airport
- Birmingham International Airport
East Midlands Airport is by far the closest airport and a a taxi from there to Melton Mowbray costs £35 – £40, but, depending where you are coming from, tickets for East Midlands can be rather expensive.
If you want to land somewhere in London Heathrow, Stansted, City or Gatwick are all good choices and for all of them, once you land, you will need to head to Kings Cross / St Pancras International Train Station and get a train to Grantham or Melton Mowbray
Tickets from any London Airport to Kings Cross / St Pancras International Train Station can be bought at the Airport easily. Specifically:
From Gatwick there is a Direct Train to Kings Cross / St Pancras International Train Station (about 1 hour)
From Heathrow you will need to get the Piccadilly Line directly to Kings Cross / St Pancras International Train Station (54 minutes)
In order to book your airplane tickets we suggest using expedia.com
Once you reach King’s Cross / St Pancras International Train Station you will need to get a train to Grantham OR Melton Mowbray. (Grantham is 30 minutes from the church but much cheaper train ride)
WE STRONGLY suggest that you buy your rail tickets as soon as possible and surely before you arrive. The price difference is enormous.
